Professional Fees for Psychotherapy and Insurance.

What is your life, your marriage, your emotional well-being worth?  Many people consider psychotherapy well worth the financial investment.  Some also worry or are concerned about the cost of psychotherapy.  Consider what you spend on your physical health, car payment or even at Starbucks.  Consider the investment in your future, your emotional well-being, and the skills, insight, change and healing that can occur as a result of your investment in therapy.

Dr. Grover offers an initial phone consultation at no charge.  He will discuss with you your concerns and your reasons for seeking therapy and a first meeting can be decided upon.

Psychotherapy sessions (50 minutes) - are charged at $200 an hour.  Fees are to be paid each session.  Most patients pay using cash or check.

Payments are accepted by:

  • Check

  • Cash

  • Debit or Credit Cards

Some couples or individual clients opt for longer sessions. 90 minute psychotherapy sessions are charged at $300 for 90 minutes.

Dr. Grover does offer sliding scale fees which are contingent upon a financial hardship that is demonstrated and verified.  There are a limited number of reduced fee therapy slots and are not always available for clients that do have a financial hardship.  If you are unable to pay the fees for therapy at the beginning of therapy Dr. Grover will discuss other options with you and can offer lower cost referrals for psychotherapy.  There are several low cost community psychotherapy clinics in the area that may offer therapy at a considerable discount.  Another way to reduce the cost of sessions is to select a mental health provider who is on your insurance and then you usually only pay a co-pay.

Insurance

Dr. Grover is an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies.  Services are provided on a fee-for-service basis and are charged directly to the client.  Dr. Grover will provide a monthly statement that has all the necessary information for you to bill your insurance company directly.  He is happy to answer questions related to obtaining reimbursement from your insurance carrier.

Prior to your first session, you will need to call your insurance company and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health or therapy benefits?

  • What mental health services (intake, therapy, psychological testing, etc.) are covered by this insurance plan?

  • Do I have a deductible?  If so, how much of my deductible has been met?

  • How many therapy sessions are covered by my insurance plan each calendar year?

  • What percentage of the fee I paid will be covered for services provided by an out-of-network provider?
